...the Books app on my Kindle Fire—you know, the thing I read my ebooks with—refuses to open.

I bet money it's because I installed the Google Play store and said app keeps trying to update Amazon Kindle for Android. which means the only available solution from Amazon's perspective is going to be factory reset and then don't do that thing.

fml.

see how this recipe says between putting the batter in the pan and the pan in the oven Cover the pan loosely with a tent of aluminum foil?

possibly they mean emphasis to fall on "tent"

(I did the foil flat over top of the pan, which was not full when I did this, and now I have removed the foil at the half-hour mark, and there is considerable batter stuck to the foil)
