oh fuck my life
Dec. 24th, 2019 01:35 amI have to check all the geographic references in where the firelight fades against a version of
paris-in-miraculous-ladybug's ML world map that has an actual compass rose on it.
Because if north is at the top of that image, that means the shadows are pointing southeast. Which means the sun is currently in the northwest.
In Paris.
Which is a wee bit north of the Tropic of Cancer.
paris-in-miraculous-ladybug in the image identifies the bridge as Pont Alexandre III or Pont au Change. The first (Google Maps tells me) is almost, but not quite, north-south, at a point where the river is almost, but not quite, east-west, and the bridge is not perpendicular to the river; the second is perpendicular to the river, such that the bridge is more distinctly NNE–SSW. To line the bridge in that screencap up with Pont au Change with north at the top of the map, I have to rotate it maybe 45° counterclockwise? 60° to match Pont Alexandre III?
my life! *tears hair*
(anyway I don't think January Chloé has the option of watching the sun rise from her balcony, even were she to get up before sunrise, because her room is in the way. which is the thing I wanted to know in the first place.)
(and I ain't going back to fix anything I've already posted to AO3. I'm not doing it.)
