Apr. 24th, 2009 12:01 pmYes, boss, I know the only reason I'm at work today instead of yesterday is because there's landscaping needing done and yesterday and the day before were too wet to do it. No, boss, I am not trying to evade the landscaping by asking if there's anything I can do inside where it's cool and there's ready access to gallons of water. I am trying to evade dehydration and sunstroke and other bad things that happen to me when I'm outside for more than two hours at a stretch. (Yes, I take water breaks; no, that's not sufficient to evade the bad things; no, that doesn't count as breaking up the more-than-two-hours-at-a-stretch.) Yes, boss, I'll go do more outside things now, even though that means I'll be outside three or four hours at a stretch.
No, boss, I'm not feeling well now, thank you for noticing. No, boss, I am not going back outside now. I am staying sat in the air conditioning and drowning myself until the headache and nausea and dry throat and other consequences of dehydration and sunstroke and bad things have settled down some. I don't care if you don't like it. I'd rather get yelled at than keel over.
