21 Days of Dreamwidth Meme

4. What do you do online when you're not on DW?

LJ (yeah yeah), Atheism+ forums, a constant email back-and-forth with my best friend, and Slacktivist-on-Patheos comment threads, with a side of Tumblr and Facebook.

Day Seven: A female character that needs more screen time

ALL OF THEM. Of the surviving recurring women on Supernatural (all, um, three of them?), let's go with Jody Mills.

alexseanchai: Bekah Kelso as Hecate in Ember Days, at the end of the film (Ember Days Hecate)
So I finally got around to watching Ember Days. It's...put it this way: it's kind of craptastic but it's on the now-seven-item-long list of shit I want fic of for Yuletide. HECATE. (My icon.) Kickass. Not enthralled by her character motivation (eta: to be fair, the 'save my baby' motivation is also what's driving one of the male characters, so this film at least doesn't gender it), or by the fact that one of the antagonists is the only character of color in the whole damn film, and we seem to have lost track of an important character. But the film passes Bechdel (once, but it passes), and Hecate is the primary protagonist and did I mention she's kickass?

And the music rocks, too. I think the film benefited by my having listened to the soundtrack beforehand, because "Poem of War" is key background information—mostly conveyed in dribs and drabs over the film, but key. One of these days I'm going to get the rest of SJ Tucker's body of work, and I should check out Bekah Kelso and Alexander James Adams (who were also involved with the soundtrack, and Tucker and Adams have minor parts in the film and Kelso plays Hecate), but not today.

I am offering one-card draws for free, one free draw per customer, Hanson-Roberts or Pocket Goddess Tarot.

When you ask for a card, either tell me that you're looking for a reading or leave a prompt of up to five words. If you want a reading, this works like the usual one-card draw: I tell you the card and interpret for you, and it's up to you to figure out how it applies. If you leave a prompt, you get a hundred-ish-word story inspired by the prompt and the card.

Anyone who links me to a post advertising this gets another free card, same rules.

A donation of 2 USD gets you a three-card past-present-future reading. A donation of 5 USD gets you a ten-card Celtic Cross reading. Alternately, for each dollar you donate, I'll write another hundred words to your initial prompt.

Anonymous comments are screened as always, but all the stories will be publicly visible.

ETA: If you donate, please tell me who from and what for.

The free draw is CLOSED. If whoever left that donation—thank you, by the way—wants to identify themselves, though...

Three things I need to feel safe

I need money in the bank, and a steady stream in to cover the steady stream out. I have some of that. I'm working on owing less money to other people and to credit card companies, which will also make me feel safer.

I need space of my own. I have that, sort of, but my corner of the basement exists only as long as my parents let it. See also working to get out of debt so I can get my own place.

I need a way to get away. I have that, in several different ways: my job, my car, my online activity. All y'all who are part of my online activity: thank you.
