So a faculty member from the WGSS program at my university forwarded us an email about Feminist Camp. It's basically a week of meeting feminisms in action and learning how to put feminisms into action, and I would love to go.
Problem one: Anxieties. I will know literally no one there, except a couple people by reputation only.
Problem two: The June session is the week before spring term finals. The January session, which is the one registration's currently open for, is the first week of winter term and also in the middle of high overtime availability at my job.
Problem three: Price tag of $1500. Excluding travel to NYC, dinners, and entertainment. (Not that I expect I'd have much time for entertainment, given that both sessions are during term.)
Fuck. I. TY.
But I do want to go. I've typed an email to the faculty member who forwarded this asking who I'd need to talk to about the possibility of my university paying all or part of my program fee. I haven't sent it. Anxieties again. Gah. Go away anxieties. Fuck the fuck off already.
(For anyone who is curious about my silence: I have spent the week at friends' home having a nice peaceful vacation. Peaceful, that is, except when my friends are present, because if either of my friends is present then their dogs are free to roam the house. Buddy is nearly as big as me. Brando is not much smaller and exceedingly rambunctious. I keep flinching when either of them gets too close. It has been delightful seeing my friends, but I think next year I will vacation somewhere that does not have large animals.)
