So I decided a while back, like at least three months, that I'd like to join the local chapter of the SCA. (I say three months because that's the timestamp on the email I sent to the chatelaine of what I thought was the nearest chapter of the SCA. I have been putting off emailing the chatelaine of the actual nearest chapter since receiving the reply from the first-mentioned chatelaine.) The problem with this scenario is that all the things this chapter does that are relevant to my interests are weekday evenings, when I'm working; the only weekend things are fighting practice, the occasional Shire meeting, and some of the archery practice.

Yesterday I was at the Pittsburgh Renaissance Festival. Spent way too much money. (Flip side: lookit all my new shinies!) One of the things I spent money on was the longbow booth. Hit the target with four of my nine arrows. Hit it respectably close to the center with two of those four. It's not as easy as Princess Merida Dunbroch and Queen Susan Pevensie make it look, but it was fun.

Guess I'd better email the chatelaine, and possibly the captain of archers, huh?

Um. Wait. Archery practice is alternate Sunday afternoons. Next three are the 28th, the 12th, and the 26th. 28th I may have a commitment. (It is on the family calendar, not mine, so I am not sure and have emailed parents to ask.) 26th I definitely do. And 12th, parents are visiting brother in Ohio. Oldest sister has work that evening, middle sister is in New Jersey, and youngest sister has commitments at unspecified times and places that weekend. Youngest sister is not old enough to drive. Which means, if any of youngest sister's commitments are the afternoon of the 12th, I had damn well better not have anywhere to be that afternoon.

Oh goody, just what I needed, an excuse to further put off emailing the chatelaine...

(fuck social anxiety, seriously)

ETA: Mom says youngest sister has no commitments the 12th and she's pretty sure my attendance at the thing the 28th is optional. Yay! Emailed chatelaine before losing nerve.
