"But you CAN'T [do fun thing such as read, crochet, try out my metal-stampy stuff, research for [community profile] pt_lightning fic-what-I'm-writing*...], you have WORK to do!"

"...no I don't. except for cleaning the chaosfloor. shall I clean the chaosfloor now?"

"BUT YOU CAN'T. YOU HAVE WORK TO DO!"

I can only assume that the work I'm supposed to be doing is the schoolwork that I technically still have because I haven't officially withdrawn yet because I haven't heard back from financial aid about the consequences to my financial aid should I withdraw. In which case fuck that, brain, let me do something fun. Or at least let me clean the chaosfloor!†

No? What, am I supposed to go ask Mom for chores to do?

* As opposed to [community profile] pt_lightning fic-what-I'm-podficcing, for which I think my creative part is done until my partner has written a draft.

† I have too much stuff and need to [community profile] unclutter. The problem here is that I am a [mother's maiden name] at heart, not a [father's surname]. Mom's folks keep stuff because it is important. Dad's folks get rid of stuff that is not important, with the yardstick generally being 'has it been used in the last year'. The other problem here is that the capitalist emotional narrative of 'spend spend spend you are nothing if you do not have an ever-increasing quantity of stuff' has a pretty good hold on me, even though intellectually I know it's bullshit. And therefore I have much stuff and much debt! And I can usually justify my purchases to myself as art supplies or research books, but really I ought to be using the art supplies I've got and reading the research books I've got, and not spending money...
