I have Opened the Mead Kit.

Apparently the actual fermenting of the honey occurs in the gallon water jug. (So I do not need the 2qt pot I bought and can now return it, since I have not depackaged it yet. I just need a 2qt pot to boil water in to get this process started, and can borrow one of Mom's 2qt pots for that purpose.) The actual fermenting also ought to occur between 70F and ~95F (lower at night obv), which means I don't want to start yet, it's not consistently over 70F daytime yet.

I love how they specify in degrees Fahrenheit the outdoor temperature at which this all should be happening, but when they say to cool the water-with-flavorings-okay-it's-a-tea, they say "hot shower temperature" and later "baby bath water temp".

Also I need four 750mL glass bottles from somewhere. I wonder if Walmart has.

ETA: Mom says circa 110F for the one thing, circa 95F for the other thing. And since we have many glass jars (because we have been eating her last couple years' pickling efforts and saving the jars for this year's harvest season, which of course it is not yet), I should use the glass jars.
