(no subject)
May. 18th, 2015 01:29 pmI am trying not to take it as a divine omen that when I went to light a candle to Hestia and another to Athena just now, it took three matches instead of one, because the first two sputtered out before the first candle wick caught.
Hestia being the goddess of the hearth and home, and the subject of my prayer being "if I have ever made an offering to you, please help me transition into my new home", that sort of omen is, well, ominous.
(The apartment is not at all a settled thing yet. That's the problem.)
(Also the rent at this complex is thirty bucks higher than I thought it was, which might be either the rent on the poolside one-bedrooms went up or the lakeside one-bedrooms are the only ones available. This doesn't make it impossible, but it sure will make it trickier. Ditto the fact that they're calculating 3X rent—because monthly gross income has to be 3X rent to qualify for this complex—based on two paychecks, rather than on 26 paychecks / 12.)
(I really sympathize with my oldest sister's complaint of last night to the tune of "Can't one of you make my wedding registry?" Because I'm trying to update my apartment wishlist on Amazon and I'm thinking of things like "bread machine" and "toaster oven", which, what's the best-for-cheapest? I don't have time to go all Consumer Reports on everything!)
