May. 25th, 2015 01:15 amOkay, now I'm pissed off. Mostly at me. Pattern says, P hook. Ravelry says, hook I own is P/Q hook (15 mm). Okay. Toddle off to find hook, come back and start crocheting. Realize it's awfully loose for trying to match the pictures. Go back to pattern, click the link to where they're trying to sell me a crochet hook. Realize that the P hook they mean is either what Ravelry calls N/P (10 mm) or a hook that Ravelry doesn't seem to think exists (11.5 mm).
Am not in possession of a 10 mm hook. Am four rounds in to the pattern.
For bonus points, the yarn they're trying to sell me is bulky enough that the manufacturer recommended hook size is M/N, 9 mm, at three stitches to the inch. Because I made assumptions instead of checking the pattern, I am working with the worsted weight yarn I already have in quantity.
Too thick a hook and too thin a yarn. No fucking wonder what I've got doesn't resemble the pictures!
And I don't really have money with which to go buy a 10mm hook and 3500 yards of bulky yarn, either. Especially not the yarn the pattern maker wishes to sell me, which is $19.50 per 87-yd skein.
