I don't have much with which I can help #BlackLivesMatter, not now in the wake of the murder of Charleena Lyles, and truth be told not ever. (I'm disabled and broke. I don't dare put my body on the line, and I don't have money to spare.)

But I have a voice with which to speak to other white people, and fingers with which to type, and words to say.

Maybe it's just thoughts and prayers, I don't know; the arguments against responding to tragedies with only thoughts and prayers are several and valid. But, you know, when you lift every voice and sing, you've got one resounding chorus. So I'm speaking out.

Feel free to share this widely: a prayer that the memory of Charleena Lyles may be a blessing, and a plea to all white people
