...do I still have the original packaging for my desktop and monitor? I don't think I do. This could pose a safe-transport problem. I should probably pack those next (or, well, next after cleaning/packing desk stuff) and just rely on my laptop and Kindle for internet till moved.

I should also probably pack my altar stuff next: that being mostly little glass tealight holders (oh, autocorrect, that's actually sweet: it said 'starlight holders') which should be wrapped in newspaper and carefully boxed. I can make a teeny construction paper hearth for the interim. Which I could maybe then burn as the first (or anyway an early) offering in my new home.

...I was gonna watch Peter Pan Live tonight, but then parents got home, and now it is 8:30 and I want to be in bed by 10 and it's a 2h15m production. So much for my plan of a relaxing evening after truly epic work stress on top of poor sleep and not enough of it. And tomorrow I get to do it all over again, only this time with errands after work and a fast-food dinner (probably) and then Poe rehearsal!

Also I was supposed to clean house this weekend, or at least before parents got home. Oops.

My thread, or where it will be when it is unscreened at any rate. dingsi's current status per lovememe post: asleep, which is where I ought to be except I went to bed forty-five minutes ago and obviously it didn't stick. If we 4-12ers are still working day shift hours next week (not implausible; depends on how much work needs done on the new system that week, which depends on how much gets accomplished this week in terms of making it more usable) and consequently HR yanks our shift differential for the pay period covering this week and next, I will be so pissed off, y'all.

I'm posting this in part because Maggie Stiefvater apparently stepped in it regarding diversity in media by suggesting that (1) mental illness is Other (2) white folk have a place on panels devoted to diversity (3) the only thing white media creators can do to encourage diversity in media is to write more diverse media. Which, well, (1) mental illness actually is actively Othered (2) why wouldn't we? not the whole panel, gods no, not even half the panel—but unless the only Other we're concerned with is racially or culturally defined, white folks who are Othered have a right to be on these panels (3) okay yes Stiefvater did step in it. Signal-boosts, people. Actively consume media produced by people of marginalized demographics, lots of different marginalized demographics, and then talk about the such media you enjoyed and why you enjoyed it. It is not and should not be entirely on PoC to provide all PoC representation in media, but it also is not and should not be entirely on white people to rescue PoC from their un-media-represented condition.
