* It's raining, the soft soothing sort of rain.
* Birdsong.
* It's almost quiet in my head right now. Just sitting here listening to the rain and the birdsong.

But I have things to do. To wit:

* read one of the books I brought to parents'

And so far today I have accomplished:

tada! )

Either the dryer is broken or my laundry card has $0.75 on it and the dryer needs $1.50 to make it go. Which, since the add-money machine is not in the laundry room and therefore I don't know where it is, means I have a load of wet laundry, two loads of dirty laundry, and a dilemma. The only way to solve the laundry issue without waiting till tomorrow (to ask the property manager, once he's in, where the reload-the-laundry-card machine is—I've emailed him already) is to go do laundry at my parents'.

But it is kind of difficult to tidy an apartment I am not in!

I know that what I am doing right now is the thing where I refresh Dreamwidth, Facebook, Feedly, and other Facebook repeatedly, with frequent glances at both Gmail tabs, expecting new content to appear. While knowing that the shorter the interval between refreshes, the less likely it is that there will be new content. The reasonable thing to do is Something Else. I have a bag full of books with me for precisely this purpose. And yet I am not putting down the laptop to read anything!

ARGH.

I just realized. The reason I feel as though I can* actually do housework today and leave the homework for tomorrow? I'm off work this whole week! And yeah, I've got tech week rehearsals and then performances, but those aren't going to add up to forty-plus hours. The time pressure is off!

I mean, it's really not, because the German homework chapter three is due tomorrow, but. You see what I mean.

I think I should probably look into how best to part-time my schoolwork. Even if the university disability office doesn't say I can part-time work while full-time for financial aid purposes. My federal financial aid is probably gone after this year anyway, because I have so many credits, even though I didn't get federal financial aid for any of the DelTech credits. So I may be dropping to part-time, or dropping out†, after this year regardless!

* Or, well, could if I didn't need to be at my parents' for a few more hours to do laundry.

† Only if I have to for financial reasons. And let's all hope really hard that that doesn't happen! Because the current plan for increasing my income without losing the federal student loan forgiveness is to become tech support in my division, for which I plan to take my university's online post-bacc in computer science, which requires a bachelor's degree first.

Speaking of final planning, isn't Bios Urn the shiniest? I could become a tree when I die.

Except then I would have a legit gravesite for people to visit (a thing my current plan, Eternal Reefs, doesn't permit—I mean, people could take a boat out to the approximate location, but that's not the same thing), and for reasons I can't figure out, that's a problem. Also a potential problem: the tree being cut or knocked down.

I love the smell of browning ground beef and sautéing onions and garlic. (I am making Spanish rice!)

I also love the smell of baking bread. (I am making seven-grain bread!)

And now I get both smells at once!

I wish to register a complaint. To wit: The Happiness Diet advised me to consume cacao nibs in preference to soda. It did not inform me, and it did not occur to me, that unprocessed cacao is bitter as fuck.

Okay, so now I have a bag of cacao nibs. The fuck do I do with them to make them tolerably edible?

ETA: Turns out if you cut a teaspoon of cacao nibs with a cup of Breyer's Reese's ice cream, they're okay!

...Speaking of final planning, Five Wishes Online, at least if you're in most US jurisdictions. Medical power of attorney, advance medical directive, and living will all in one $5 package.
