thanks to
piipstachio I have found the install file for vintage-2012 Movie Maker!
…I am positive I used to be able to split audio and video after adding video source, thus allowing me to delete the source audio from the project altogether if I like (rather than needing to mute each video clip)
I am positive Movie Maker used to clip things up for me instead of dumping the whole episode into the video draft
(I have figured out how to get Handbrake to give me each one specific clip—but first I have to find each one specific clip, note down its beginning and ending timestamps, and save the clip as a separate file; if I later discover I want that clip to end in different points, I have to do that process over again, instead of going back to the pre-clipped bits in a separate pane from my video draft)
and I am positive I used to be able to put in an audio clip that's longer than the video clips currently in the project
(the vexing part of
vexercises is not supposed to be finding a working fucking program)
and also, of course, while it might or might not be possible to find the help files on Wayback Machine, first I need a help URL that resolves to where the help file actually was—not to, you know, microsoft dot com slash en-us slash windows slash question mark gibberish
